Circle Art Gallery is pleased to present a dual presentation featuring Tiemar Tegene and Agnes Waruguru. While working in distinct media and visual languages, both artists share an intuitive, material-led approach grounded in memory, emotion, and lived experience. Bringing their practices together creates a dialogue around process, transformation, and the ways personal histories are translated into form.
Tegene’s practice is rooted in printmaking, extending traditional etching into experimental monoprints shaped by spontaneity and chance. Using household objects and textured surfaces, she moves away from fixed editions, allowing each work to emerge as a singular creation.
Similarly, Waruguru draws on domestic materials, combining meditative processes with intuitive gestures to explore memory, belonging, and shifting notions of home. In her recent works, she approaches water as messenger, healer, and archive, creating contemplative spaces that evoke rememory and emotional transformation.
Together, Tegene and Waruguru treat material and process as ways of carrying emotional and remembered experience. Their works invite a slower, more attentive mode of looking, where traces of daily life and personal history surface through gesture and form. Presented together, their practices open a shared space to consider how memory and lived experience shape contemporary artistic language within a global context.
