Soi W Michael is an artist living and working in Nairobi, Kenya.
Born in 1972, he studied fine art and art history at the Creative Arts Centre, Nairobi before joining Kuona Trust in 1996.
His work is a form of social commentary addressing issues that affect the daily lives of all Kenyans, narratives of corruption, politics, industry and prostitution. His biggest inspiration is his city, its people and the ‘circus of life’ that is Nairobi.
Working from a studio at the GoDown Art Centre, Soi has exhibited widely and has a huge following of collectors and enthusiasts both locally and internationally.
This exhibition, Faces, is a series of 17 works exploring portraiture of women constructed from Soi’s imagination.
